We’ve been getting some great questions and feedback from teams interested in how this year’s hybrid ROBOTICON event will work. So we’ve pulled together a pretty comprehensive Q&A with those great questions, and updated our draft event program with some additional information and photos.
Before we get to that, though, we want to give a huge, grateful shout out to some of our ROBOTICON 2021 Sponsors!
Sponsor and Program Partner Gratitude!
Whether ROBOTICON roars to life at the Yuengling Center, online or somewhere in between – like this year – we couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing sponsors and program partners who are always there, helping us help teams have a great and instructive time of it!
In addition to our rock solid program team of FCDI, PLUGHITZ Corp, and AMRoC Fab Lab, we hope you’ll join with us in thanking RD Management for allowing us creative use of University Mall, the Tampa Innovation Partnership, and Vu Studios, who are also providing space for us to spread ROBOTICON out safely and securely, as well as helping provide programming. We’re also grateful to the University of South Florida College of Engineering for their programming support.
We’re also delighted to welcome back the Florida High Tech Corridor, SOFWERX and Bay Area Manufacturing Association as ROBOTICON 2021 event sponsors. You learn more about these great program partners on our Sponsor Page. And if you’re a Tampa Bay area company interested in supporting our next generation of science and tech leaders, please consider joining these great organizations as an event sponsor, too!
Draft ROBOTICON 2021 Program – V.3
Our most recent draft (v. 3) of the ROBOTICON 2021 program agenda is now available and includes facilities maps and photos as well as information about our Code of Conduct and COVID-19 protocols.
A Few Recent Questions and Answers
We’ve selected a few recent questions to share below, and you see our full current Q&A list here
Q. Why should we register for this event?
A. Seriously? Where else are you going to get ROBOTICON level fun, interaction and education? This is the only game in town – in the whole state, as a matter of fact – and the only place where you can play together on full competition fields and tables, and get anything approaching the feel of a pre-COVID-19 era competition experience right now. It’s affordable, small scale, health and safety oriented, and professionally managed with a focus on a quality academic experience that’s fun. What’s not to love?
Q: What are the chances of ROBOTICON being cancelled the day we arrive?
A: ROBOTICON is not an official FIRST or VEX event, but rather independently produced by the nonprofit Foundation for Community Driven Innovation (FCDI) and program partners, and thus not subject to any other organization’s rules or regulations. As we’re producing this as a month-long event in our own facility (AMRoC Fab Lab) , in a public space (University Mall) unless there is some high level public threat like a hurricane on one of the program weekends, it will not be cancelled. And even then teams would have sufficient advance notice.
Q. What’s the last refund date?
A: Registration fees are refundable up to September 30 if the team cancels, and fully refundable if we cancel for any reason. Registered teams will receive invoices for payment starting the 1st week in September, and payment will be due by Sept. 15.
