Here’s what guests at our 2018 event enjoyed!

University of South Florida Engineering Expo in the Arena Club on the 2nd floor will include Virtual and Augmented Reality exhibits,  Hands-Free Wheelchair, Obstacle Avoiding Wheelchair, Wheelchair-Mounted Robotic Arm, Manus Assistive Robotic Arm, and Blind-Assistance Glasses, USF motorized bull mascot and other research & engineering projects.

Innovation Fair Exhibits along Concourses A & D include STEMWERX wind tunnel, SOFWERX robotics & drones, Green Mouse Academy Infento Playground , Ninjineers Mini-PowerUp hands on robotics, Meet a NASA Engineer, USF Brain Controlled Drone demos, USF CARD/Learning Academy & much more!

Saturday – September 29*
  • 8:00 am – Doors open to teams
  • 9:00 am – Doors Open to Public – ROBOTICON Engineering Expo open in Arena Club, 2nd Floor above Arena, & Innovation Fair in the Concourse – public
  • 10:00 am –FIRST Tech Challenge Build & Workshop Sessions throughout the day (Hardwood Club – teams)
  • 10:00 am – noon – FIRST Robotics Competition Field connect & Practice
  • 10am – noon—FIRST LEGO League Jr. Expo, Concourse A
  • 10:30 am – NASA Career Tracks with Kurt Leucht, Software Development Team Lead, NASA Kennedy Space Center – Media Center (teams)
  • 11:30 am – Career Paths in Technology – Challenges and Solutions, with Women in Defense, WITI Tampa & Citi , Media Center (teams)
  • 12:30 pm – Volunteer & Invited Guests Luncheon
  • Noon to 12:45 pm – Teams Lunch Break
  • 1:00 pm – FIRST Robotics Competition Qualifiers start
  • 1:30 pm – Business Plan Development Best Practices –Brian Kornfield , Founding Partner, Synapse – Media Center  (teams)
  • 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm – FIRST Tech Challenge & FIRST LEGO League scrimmages in respective areas
  • 2:00 pm– FIRST 101 – Public Workshop, Main concourse
  • 3:00 pm – Meet A NASA Engineer with Kurt Leucht, Software Engineer, NASA Kennedy Space Center – Concourse – public session
  • 2:30 pm – Teaming Up for ASD Students – a workshop for teachers, coaches & mentors – USF Learning Academy/Center for Autism and Related Disorders
  • 3:30 pm – NASA’s Plans For Mars with Kurt Leucht, Software Engineer, NASA Kennedy Space Center – Media Center (teams)
  • 4:30 pm – FIRST LEGO League, Jr, FIRST LEGO League & FIRST Tech Challenge Awards Ceremonies
  • 5:00 pm – Day 1 is done! See you Sunday morning

  • 10:00 am – FIRST Robotics Competition welcome and opening ceremonies
  • 10:15 am – FIRST Robotics Competition Qualifications continue
  • 11am – NASA’s Plans For Mars with Kurt Leucht, Software Engineer, NASA Kennedy Space Center – Media Room (teams)
  • Noon to 12:45 pm – Teams & Volunteers Lunch Break
  • 1:00 pm – Qualification rounds resume
  • 2:00 pm – FIRST 101 Public Session – Concourse A
  • 2:30 pm – Meet A NASA Engineer with Kurt Leucht, Software Engineer, NASA Kennedy Space Center – Concourse A – public session
  • 2:30 pm – Alliance Selection
  • 3:00 pm – Elimination Matches Start
  • 5:00 pm – Closing Ceremony – FIRST Robotics Competition Event Awards
