ROBOTICON has always been a team effort and one of the most wonderful team members we’ve ever had the pleasure to work with is PLUGHITZ Corporation, who has been a media and event partner since ROBOTICON’s inception.  Founded and run by FIRST alum Scott Ertz, who is also the creator of the FIRST Looks interview series, PLUGHITZ Corporation provides live event coverage and media support for all FCDI events and programs, and has been a key partner in the development of FCDI’s AMRoC Fab Lab at University Mall.  Read on to learn more about this great company.

PLUGHITZ Corporation is a media-focused company based in the Tampa Bay Area. We create live audio and video content, including technology and robotics podcasts, as well as providing technical production for live events, like ROBOTICON Tampa Bay.

PLUGHITZ Corporation has had the pleasure of supporting ROBOTICON Tampa Bay since its inaugural year in differing ways. Through our PLUGHITZ Live brand, we have produced interviews at every ROBOTICON event, released as part of the FIRST Looks podcast. The show focuses on the teams of FIRST, their members, as well as the volunteers, staff, sponsors, and supporters of the program. To date, FIRST Looks has produced over 100 interviews at ROBOTICON Tampa Bay.

Since moving to the University of South Florida, we have also had the pleasure of running all of the audio and video for the event, through our PLUGHITZ Productions brand. This has included the music, field sounds, above-field video, and live video stream on Facebook, Twitch, and Mixer.

All of this is a labor of love from our team because we truly believe in the mission of ROBOTICON Tampa Bay. This program gives an opportunity for FIRST teams from across the state (and occasionally across the world) to interact in a less stressful environment than an in-season competition, while allowing everyone to prepare for their upcoming seasons. It also affords these students the chance to meet representatives from local companies where they might find employment after graduation. We are honored to have the opportunity to help the Foundation for Community Driven Innovation bring this program to life year after year.

You’ll see the fabulous handiwork of PLUGHITZ Corporation throughout ROBOTICON this weekend, on the Jumbotron, along the corner screens and digital ribbon that runs around the Yuengling Center, as well as during FIRST Looks interviews.  We’re truly honored that Scott will be our show host throughout the weekend, as well!
