We’re happy to welcome back the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA )Tampa – St. Petersburg Pelican Chapter. AFCEA has been part of ROBOTICON Tampa Bay since the beginning and we’re grateful for this great organization’s support. We asked them to tell us more about what they do and why they feel ROBOTICON is important.
R. What does AFCEA do?
AFCEA: AFCEA is an international organization that serves its members by providing a forum for the ethical exchange of information. AFCEA is dedicated to increasing knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications, and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.
R: Why you’re supporting ROBOTICON Tampa Bay?
AFCEA: The Tampa-St. Petersburg AFCEA Chapter supports ROBOTICON’s efforts in peaking young people’s interest in serving their community while encouraging their enthusiasm in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics because STEM is equally a large focus of our local chapter’s mission within our community in Tampa Bay.
R: Why you think the event is important?
AFCEA: This event is important because it encourages youth to see the true application of their learned STEM abilities and how to work as a team, which often allows them to walk away motivated and driven to continue their engagement with STEM as they become the future for our industry.
R.What you hope for youth attending the event?
AFCEA: Our hope for the youth attending is that this event will ignite a drive to increase their knowledge and abilities through STEM and they will one day be the movers and shakers in our industry.
