This rookie team is ready to take a big bite out of their first season.   Meet FIRST Tech Challenge team 14215, the Plaid Piranhas.

The Plaid Piranhas, sister team to the Plaid Pelicans,  got their start in FIRST Lego League three and half years ago and they are now in their rookie year as a FIRST Tech Challenge Team in the Space Coast League. The team is comprised of 7th and 8th graders from middle schools in Rockledge and Viera and they work out of a build space in Rockledge that is provided by their sponsor Mainstream Engineering .

In the last two years, the Plaid Piranhas have competed at the Central Florida FIRST Lego League Regional Championships and also as proud representatives of Brevard County at the Florida FIRST LEGO League State Invitational. They were also awarded a bid in 2018 to attend the FIRST LEGO League Razorback Invitational in Arkansas. Last year in an effort to promote robotics and STEM, the Plaid Piranhas participated more than a dozen FIRST outreach events in Brevard County and Orlando.

They genuinely love sharing their love of FIRST and robots with the community. In November the team collected food donations and loaded hundreds of baskets as members of the Space Coast Basket Brigade to make Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets for families in need.

You can follow along with the Plaid Piranhas on their Facebook page  .  The Plaid Piranhas also want to give a big shout out to their team sponsors:  Mainstream Engineering, NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Program, Florida Power and Light and Brevard Value Motors

Come see the Pink Piranhas at ROBOTICON Tampa Bay on September 29 at the University of South Florida Yuengling Center!
