FIRST Robotics Competition team #179, the Children of the Swamp, of Riviera Beach,  is one of the oldest FIRST Robotics Competition teams  in Florida (21 years old!) and has made the trek up from Palm Beach County nearly every year since ROBOTICON started in 2013.  They’ve taken home the ROBOTICON Awesome Pit Award a couple of times now, and been part of the winning alliance a few times as well.

Their sponsored school is Suncoast High School, but the team welcomes students from any Palm Beach County School, public or private and home school program.   Their sponsors include Canon Solutions, Propp Family Foundation, FPL, EDF, FTT, and American Stairs.

You can see the Children in the Swamp in action at ROBOTICON Tampa Bay 2018 throughout the weekend of September 29. They’re hard to miss – their mascot is … a Swamp Thing!  And they also often carry stuffed alligators around.
