RTB: Why is your organization supporting ROBOTICON Tampa Bay?

LM: We strive to be a valued partner to our neighbors and our local communities. Advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education is a critical focus for Lockheed Martin. ROBOTICON aligns with this focus and inspires students to pursue careers in robotics and engineering.

RTB: Why do you think ROBOTICON  is important?

LM: We know firsthand the importance of educating our young people in STEM areas. Our future success – and our nation’s technological advantage – depend on a constant supply of highly trained, highly capable technical talent. Events like ROBOTICON help inspire students today and continue to build our talent pipeline.

RTB: What do you hope for youth attending the event?

LM: We believe strongly that advancing STEM education requires collaboration among industry, educators, policy makers and families. As an industry leader, Lockheed Martin, with an employee population that includes 49,000 engineers, scientists and IT professionals, is committed to working with these groups to develop programs that educate and inspire tomorrow’s scientists, engineers and mathematicians. An engineering career path will allow students to experience the satisfaction of problem solving and allow them to work with cool technology.

Our people know their work is making a difference on an astronomical scale. We may not know what’s going to change the world next, but chances are we’re already working on it, and you can too. It’s this culture of innovation – this passion for doing whatever it takes to bring about a better world – that makes working at Lockheed Martin such a rewarding experience.
