This year, we welcome the Greater Tampa Bay Chapter of Women in Defense (WID GTB) as a ROBOTICON event partner! Deborah Miller, President of the Tampa Bay Chapter, and the Business Relationship Manager for Celestar Holdings Corporation tells us more about the organization and why they’re helping support ROBOTICON Tampa Bay.
ROBOTICON: Please tell us about Women in Defense.
DM: The Greater Tampa Bay Chapter of Women In Defense’s (WID GTB) mission is to cultivate and support the advancement and recognition of women in all aspects of national security and provide women with a formal environment for professional growth through networking, education, and career development. As part of this mission, WID GTB supports learning experiences to create opportunities for middle-school aged young ladies to explore the world of STEM.
ROBOTICON: Why you think this event is important?
DM: ROBOTICON is such a great opportunity for all students to be inspired and challenged in their STEM knowledge as well as provides an event to use the skills they have and are learning. Plus ROBOTICON provides a forum for girls to meet like-minded individuals and build friendships as they continue their STEM path.
ROBOTICON: What you hope for youth attending the event?
DM: WID GTB is excited to sponsor such a great event! We hope all young people attending ROBOTICON will find opportunities to imagine, discover and explore the difference they can make through STEM.
